The Department of Physiology and Biophysics annual Recknagel Symposium took place at the annual department retreat on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Four of the Department’s second year doctoral students, Cassandra Barone, Tristan Carmeci, Joshua Holmes, and Beverlee Wood presented from their first year research laboratory rotations. Cassandra Barone was the winner of the Recknagel presentation competition and Joshua Holmes received the Ph.D. Student Academic Award.
The department established the annual Recknagel Symposium in memory of Professor Richard Recknagel, who was Chair of the Department of Physiology from 1976 until 1986 and an admired thinker and investigator who took a keen interest in mentoring young students and faculty.
