The Department of Physiology and Biophysics annual Recknagel Symposium was held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 during the department’s 18th annual retreat.
Three pre-doctoral students tied for first place for the academic award: Benjamin Dumm and Ling Xu, both from the lab of Dr. Wïtold Surewicz, and Ryan Lingerak, from the lab of Dr. Bing-Cheng Wang.
For the award for the Recknagel oral presentation there was a two-way tie, between Benjamin Dumm and Ling Xu.
The department established the annual Recknagel Symposium in memory of Professor Richard Recknagel, who was Chair of the Department of Physiology from 1976 until 1986 and an admired thinker and investigator who took a keen interest in mentoring young students and faculty.
